Hello, Jambo, Kemcho, Namaste!

That’s me—a cultural cocktail in one thought bubble, forever blending and balancing identities. Born in Uganda, brought up in Kenya, shaped by its fiery sunsets and vibrant chaos, I spent the first 14 years of my life basking in East Africa’s warmth. Then, a military coup in 1982 abruptly flipped the page, and I found myself in the cold, orderly embrace of the UK, navigating teenagehood without my parents or the internet. Fast forward four decades, and here I am, living in the very house I grew up in—a full-circle moment that feels as surreal as it does poetic.

But wait, that’s only part of the story. Between those bookends, I spent three transformative decades in South Asia—Singapore, Malaysia, and India—where "Namaste" became second nature and my love for spice-laden street food turned into an art form (literally). My time there deepened my connection to my Asian heritage while also teaching me the universal language of adaptability.

Like so many British Indians in Harrow, my roots stretch back to Gujarat, transplanted to East Africa, and then replanted in the UK. This shared nomadic history binds us, often in the most unexpected ways. We can spot each other in a crowd—our knowing nods and shared jokes about pickles in Tupperware and calling every older lady "Auntie." It’s an unspoken solidarity forged by migration, resilience, and that constant quest to feel at home, even while carrying multiple homes in our hearts.

It’s bewildering, really, to belong everywhere and nowhere all at once. But it’s also liberating. We’re cultural chameleons, fluent in "Jambo," "Kemcho," "Hello," and "Namaste," at ease across continents yet forever curious about what’s just over the horizon. This international exposure has taught us that identity isn’t about fitting into one box; it’s about coloring outside the lines, blending traditions, and rewriting the script as we go.

Yes, we’ve coped with displacement, with the quiet ache of homes left behind and the louder roar of fitting in, but it’s made us stronger, sharper, more empathetic. The bewilderment has been our greatest teacher, shaping us into citizens of the world—forever connecting, forever curious, and always ready to say, “Jambo, Kemcho, Hello!” wherever we land.

Each Fine Art Print is titled, numbered and signed in Ketna’s handwriting.

Depending on each composition’s ‘personality’, colour spectrum and destined geographical location, the Artwork is printed either as a C-Type print on Fuji gloss paper or as a Giclee print on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag paper. (For humid countries e.g Singapore, C-type Fuji paper is advised as it is does not let moisture and mould through)

All Prints are made at the most accredited and reputable Printing studios in London, Singapore or New Delhi, using the best quality fine art archival paper available.

The studio meticulously keeps account of each numbered print, including when and who it was sold to, so there is no chance of duplication.

Each Fine Art Paper Print comes in an edition of 50, so for the three sizes, the total prints ever made will be 150.
