This is one of our studio’s most iconic and best-selling artworks, and its inspiration is as fiery as its message. Years ago, I was staying in a village resort in Kutch, Gujarat, watching a group of women skillfully plaster their mud huts using cow dung—a centuries-old technique. Among them was a striking 17-year-old girl, full of confidence and sass, who completely ignored me.
Then came the zinger: I overheard her telling another woman in Gujarati (unaware I understood her), "She’s one of those foreign Indians who married a white man and forgot how to be Indian." Ouch. But on my last day, I decided to have some fun. I joked with her in Gujarati, and she was so startled she threatened to toss cow dung on me! That cheeky moment broke the ice, and we ended up chatting about everything under the sun.
Back in my studio in Singapore, as I sifted through my photos and videos from Kutch, I kept thinking about her—the sheer intelligence, raw confidence, and untamed spirit. I hoped her fire would never be extinguished by marriage, societal expectations, or the grind of life. In my sketchbook that day, I sketched her and scribbled a spontaneous speech bubble: "I am a Goddess, and you are a loser... any questions?"
This artwork celebrates her and all the living goddesses out there who carry an unstoppable spirit, unapologetically owning their power.
These trays are not mass produced, and cannot be compared to a tray in IKEA or even at a museum shop. These are limited edition collectibles; straight from the Artist's studio. There is no 'middle man'. Each tray is made in the U.K, and the Retail price is double the Production Price. The difference is a contribution to the Artist's artwork, and supports her costs to keep this enterprise alive. Made from scratchproof melamine, these robust trays measure 43 x 33 cm, and are ideal for everyday use.
